How You Can Use Re-purposed Materials
As the saying goes, “one man’s silver is another man’s gold”, and this has never been a truer statement for those of us who want to repurpose old items that still have some life left in them. Not only can repurposing items let you express yourself artistically with a one of a kind item that you can be proud of, but it can cut down on the amount of waste that goes in landfills.
My favorite thing to do is to hit garage sales, thrift stores, or take a cruise around neighborhoods on garbage day. We live in a rather disposable society, and you’d be amazed at the types of treasures you can find. Why go to the store and buy expensive clothing that is a drain on natural resources when these clothing items are being made over and over only to end up in someone’s garbage can in a year or so? When you visit a thrift store or a garage sale, you can find beautiful clothing that can be used over and over, and for a very low cost. The same goes for houseware items such as cabinets, tables and furniture. If you are eyeing a particular table, but it has some noticeable marks on it, for just a few bucks you can refurbish the item and make it look brand new!
