Make Your Green Home Even Greener

So, you like to think you keep a pretty green home, eh? You get your energy through places like www.energysavings.com, and the like, you keep green cleaning products in your home and you endeavor to recycle regularly in an effort to minimize waste. That’s wonderful, but did you also know there are lots of little things you can do in your home to help save on both energy and resources?

Take the toilet, for example. Do you know how many gallons of water are wasted every time you flush the toilet? Up to 4 gallons of water in some typical and older toilets. Of course, this isn’t to say that you should flush the toilet less – that would be highly unsanitary. However, it really doesn’t take 4 gallons to flush away what needs to be flushed and you could save on both plumbing and the amount of water wasted by investing in a more efficient toilet.

Leaving the lights on in a room you aren’t using is another source of energy waste in most homes. Sure, you might endeavor to turn off the lights whenever you can, but what about your children? Sometimes they forget. Luckily, there are timers and even motion detectors you can purchase that efficiently turn off the lights whenever no one is present in the room.

These are all helpful ways you can minimize the wasting of resources in your home, and if you follow these suggestions you will make your green home even greener.
